Still easier to sleep on a train than a plane

Nah. I rode the train from NYC home to NC back in April...and it's cured me of flying up there. Food, legroom, wide seats, scenery, and no TSA

I want to take the train back from Tulsa when I'm done with the next semester, but it'll take like 7 times as long to get back home.
And I'm scared of planes.

Don't be. Planes are awesome.
I think the problem is... you're scared of the TSA.

Plus, I can get up and walk around, and when I go to Seattle, get dropped off int he city, not in bloody SeaTac

Planes are awesome, commercial aviation sucks. The seats are narrow, leg room is zero, the recline is a joke and makes you look like an ass to the person behind you, getting an armrest means challenging the person next to you to an Agni Kai, the layover is ALWAYS in Atlanta or, even worse, O'Hare (goddamn O'Hare), and if you're in a middle seat may god have mercy on your soul. Meanwhile on Amtrak the seats are nearly as wide and squishy as a good recliner, and usually you can get two seats all to yourself, the view out the window is always interesting, most trains have full AC power and FREE wi-fi, the dining car with its proper tables is fantastic, and if I wanted I could spend the entire journey walking around, without accidentally whacking everyone in an aisle seat upside the head while I'm doing it.

If trains were even half as fast as planes I'd never fly again when traveling in the lower 48. I love riding Amtrak
